We are excited to announce the establishment of the Sts. Anne and Joachim Adult Catechesis program. The purpose of this program is to provide opportunities for our parishioners to grow in the knowledge and understanding of their Catholic faith through different study opportunities.

There are five different study options available in the Fall of 2024.  Each of these studies are created by Ascension Press. They are listed below. Some of the study options are only eights sessions while others are more sessions.  Each session will last about 90 minutes.

Each program offers its own workbook/study guide along with a few additional resources.

Please register below if interested.

Option 1: The Story of Salvation History

A guided journey through salvation history. Presenter Jeff Cavins will show you how fourteen of the Bible’s narrative books tell the biblical story from beginning to end and will give you the keys to understanding the amazing story woven throughout Scripture.

In this revolutionary approach to Bible study, The Bible Timeline divides the Bible into twelve color-coded time periods that make the narrative thread easier to follow. Using a unique color-coded chart, you will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and discover how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our Faith.

The Bible Timeline will teach you how to read and understand the entire Bible and introduce you to the wonderful narrative of Scripture in a way that will transform your life.

The Story of Salvation History will be led by Deacon Ben and Jennine Seitz.  Deacon Ben and Jennine settled in Fargo and became parishioners in 2008 after touring the world for 23 years in the US Air Force. They have been married for 39 years and have five children. Deacon Ben was ordained in 2020 and serves as the Director of Evangelization for our parish.

The Story of Salvation History will be a 24 session course, meeting on the second and fourth Sunday at 4:00pm starting September 29th in the Christ the King Room. Register here.

Option 2: Follow Me — Jesus in the Gospel of St. John

Following Christ takes more than simply believing in him or doing what he asks of us. Jesus wants you to be more than just a believer—he wants you to be his disciple and friend. Follow Me: Meeting Jesus in the Gospel of John is your guide to a personal encounter with Christ. As the Good Shepherd, Jesus seeks us. He comes to meet us and beckons us to follow him. He calls us to be his disciples, to trust him, to open ourselves to his merciful love, and to love others as he has loved us. Follow Me invites you to experience the joy of a renewed friendship with Christ. In this study you will learn what it takes to follow Christ and discover the joy of divine friendship. You will see how God, and only God, can satisfy the deepest desires of your heart.

Follow Me — Jesus in the Gospel of St. John will be led by Connie Dulany. Connie has been a member of Sts. Anne and Joachim for 26 years.  For 22 years she served as the Director of Religious Education.

Follow Me — Jesus in the Gospel of St. John will be a 8 session course, meeting on the second and fourth Wednesdays at 10:15am starting September 25th in the Ave Maria Room. Register here.

Option 3: Psalms: The School of Prayer

The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother. At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that help us to pray. In the Psalms: The School of Prayer, discover how these sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God’s loving and wondrous deeds for us.

In this 11-session Bible study, presenters Jeff Cavins, Tim Gray, and Sarah Christmyer show you how to establish a deeply personal dialogue with God through the Psalms. Learn how to meditate fruitfully on the captivating words of the Psalms using Lectio Divina and study the many ways the Psalms foretell the life and mission of Jesus.

Susan and Ted LeMier met 34 years ago while both worked at Target. They have been married 32 years. Ted is the Properties Manager for Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church and Susan is the Database Administrator for the Diocese of Fargo. They have 4 adult children. Ted is in formation to be ordained a permanent deacon for the Diocese of Fargo in the fall of 2025 and Susan currently serves on Sts. Anne and Joachim’s parish council. Prayer has long been an important part of their faith lives and journey. They look forward to leading you on the path to a deeper more personal prayer life.

Psalms: The School of Prayer will be an 11 session course, meeting at 7:00pm on the first and third Tuesday of the month, beginning on September 17th in the Christ the King Room. Register here.

Option 4: Galatians: Set Free to Live

The most important question a Christian can ask is “What must we do to be saved?” St. Paul’s letter to the Galatians provides the answer and reveals the merciful love God the Father has for his children. Galatians: Set Free to Live speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation Jesus has won for us and explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ’s redeeming sacrifice through faith and love.

Presenter Jeff Cavins explains how Christ fulfilled the Law and set us free to live in the Spirit. Learn what “justification” means and how faith and works are an integral part of it. Discover how we become heirs to the promises and blessings of Christ through faith.

Galatians: Set Free to Live will be led by Paul and Anne O’Donnell. Paul and Anne have lived in Fargo since 2005. They have six sons and Anne homeschooled all of them for a portion of their education. Paul recently retired from government contracting work at Noridian and grew up in Southern California.  Anne is originally from Denver. They met at Christendom College in VA and have been married 36 years.

Galatians: Set Free to Live will be an 8 session course, meeting on Thursday evenings at 7:00pm (Sept 26, Oct 10, Nov 7, Nov 21, Dec 5, Jan 2, Jan 16) in the Christ the King Room. Register here.

Option 5: Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant

Embark on a guided tour of the “Holy of Holies” of biblical theology. The book of Hebrews is like a little Catechism. It is steeped in rich truths that are foundational to our Catholic Faith, but its highly refined theological concepts can be difficult for even the most seasoned Bible scholars to unpack.

Presented by Andrew Swafford and Jeff Cavins, Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant draws out the riches of this sublime book in a way that makes them easier to understand. It draws connections between the Old and New Testaments, the Liturgy, the Eucharist, the priesthood, and so much more. Most importantly, Hebrews will help Catholics appreciate the astounding generosity of God as they see the wonders he has given us in the Church.

Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant will be led by Don and Deb Lorsung. Don and Deb have 4 children and 10 grandchildren. They have been parishoners at Sts. Anne and Joachim for several years and Don serves on the parish council. They recently attended the Eucharistic Revival in Bemidji and Indianapolis and look forward to delving deeper in our faith through the study of the Book of Hebrews.

Hebrews: The New and Eternal Covenant will be a 8 session course, meeting on the first and third Mondays of the month at 7:00pm starting on October 7th in the St. Maria Goretti Room. Register here.
