Before my departure to my new assignment as Parochial Vicar down at St. John’s in Wahpeton, I just wanted to express my gratitude for the kindness and openness of Sts. Anne and Joachim during my first three years of priestly life. This has been an excellent assignment, and no doubt that is due to the great people here of the parish. Whether it’s grabbing coffee with a parishioner, celebrating weddings and baptisms, or watching my OCIA students enter the Church at the Easter Vigil, my time here has been very formative in my new priestly life. The sorrowful times of illnesses and funerals have been very important, too, and being able to walk with and learn from so many people have helped shape me into the priest I am today. I will always remember fondly my time here at Sts. Anne and Joachim and am deeply grateful for the great community we have here in south Fargo. I’m also deeply grateful for the mentorship that Fr. Luke has offered me during my time here, he has helped show me how to be a father to a parish, and I am indebted to him for that.
Fr. Joseph Littlefield will be taking my place as Parochial Vicar at Sts. Anne and Joachim, and I have full confidence that he will thrive here, too, due to the welcoming attitude of this parish. Show him your openness and support, and his time here will be blessed, too.
My last Sunday will be June 22nd, and there will be a going-away celebration on Wednesday June 18th at 6:30pm in the picnic shelter. God’s blessing on the future days of this parish, and please keep me in your prayers.
Fr. Robert.
